Why Learning Mathematics So Difficult?

Why is Mathematics (Maths) learning a herculean task, especially for kids? – Well the answer is quite easy and familiar however, the difficult part is no one gives a thought on it – be it a student, a parent or a teacher. Often it is seen students cracking heads and heading towards nearest coaching centers and institutes to seek support in memorizing this subject not withstanding that unlike other theoretical subjects, mathematics is which cannot be taught. Mathematics is a practice subject and as a learner it must be practiced. Thanks to proper guidance under my brother I realized this on time. If you are thinking about hurdles in learning maths as a subject you have reached to right place to begin with. Let’s discuss them one by one.

I hate mathematics. God, save me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mathematics – same as other subjects

Most common understanding among million students is that mathematics can also be learned over a night. If you are one of them, behold, breath and rethink. Mathematics is not a theory subject rather a pragmatic subject. This can become one’s favorite and interesting subject with little practice. By practice it means that one needs to solve exercise problems daily. Each problem might hold a new concept.

Concepts Inter linked from lower standards

Mathematical Complexity
Wow!!! Finally, Biology paper is over. I will not have to keep in memory anymore these boring contents. “New class new contents”. This is how you are pondering about mathematics? If yes, put a break and modify it.  Unlike theory subjects mathematical concepts in higher standards are linked or based on concepts studied in lower standards. Forgetting or simply ignoring already learned concepts will make further learning tough, troublesome as well as boring.

Practice 10 hours before exam – Procrastination

a
“Pappu go and practice maths. Next week is your exam and yet 10 chapters to be completed”- says Mr. Sharma to his son in 10th standard. Son replies, “Papa just chill!!  I will sit 10 hours on weekends and complete everything. “Hey, do you also think as Pappu’s does – “Procrastination”? Procrastination is unwanted habit of postponing work and pilling up for last minute. Well, to an extend it might work out for a theory subjects like biology indeed, but procrastinating for last day in mathematics learning ends up saying –“ Mathematics is tough. I practiced everything but I could not solve in examination hall.” This happens as we avoid critical analyzing in hurry burry. Beware and break your 10 hours of continuous practice to 2 hours interval on regular basis. I am certain you will restart loving this subject.

Last but not the least – Avoid joining coaching classes

Irrespective of subjects most students rush towards coaching centers. Don’t do that. Don’t ask a teacher to solve problems on your behalf rather give an attempt. Refer coaching institutes or school teachers to get your doubts clear but don’t presume benefits if they are solving each questions while, you just do – copy-paste. This is not at all help. Spare few hours for your practice because practice makes a man perfect.

Thanks a lot for reading and hoping for positive response. Let me know if you still find learning mathematics tough for I have several tricks. ☺☺☺
